The History of Kings Utd:
Kings United were founded in 1999 by a group of players from former club Blackbirds FC. With Mark Burgess as manager, the club entered the Hendon and District League in the 1999/2000 season.
The team entered Division 2, and had a mediocre first season finishing 4th, with Wembley Town finishing the season as champions. The second season was to the a very successful one, seeing Kings crowned champions of Division 2, winning the league by 5 points of runners-up Parkfield. The season was followed by the introduction of current manager Mitchell Morris, who has bags of experience playing and managing at a high standard.
The 2001/02 season was Kings first season in the top flight, and they proved they could compete with the big teams, by finishing runners-up to Belmont Seniors on goal difference.
Kings went from strength to strength the following season, and won the first of three division 1 league titles in consecutive years (2002/03, 2003/04, 2004/05), becoming the only team in the history of the Hendon and District League to record such a feat. In these three years the team also picked up the Reg Ellis Cup, and beat Indian Gymkhana to clinch the Middlesex County Sunday Premier Cup in 2004. This was to be a memorable match which was won on penalties, in which Scott Burfitt scored the winning penalty to become somewhat of a Kings United legend.
2006/07 was not a successful year lack of new players plus serious injuries to stalwarts meant a different team most weeks. Though some big games were one including St Andrews consistency was not. Finished 4th lowest placing since promotion back in 2001.
The team now going into 2007/08 has many new recruits in a rebuilding era where we hope to emulate past success and sustain once more.
